Meet Your New Therapist: Stacey Farris, LMHC

Hi! I'm Stacey - welcome to my practice!
I would love to help you re-connect with the version of yourself where you feel your absolute best! I am passionate about helping adults who are feeling overwhelmed by the day to day struggles of life. Maybe you are facing a major life transition and can't cope with the anticipation of it (waiting is so hard!). Or perhaps you aren't sleeping well because racing thoughts and "what if's" are destroying any chance of peace. If you're not recognizing yourself anymore, if you're not enjoying your family or hobbies or you just can't seem to relax, I am here as a guide to help you through. With over 20 years in the counseling world and a whole lot of life experiences with my own struggles to draw from, I am a well seasoned, compassionate and intuitive guide who wants to help you find your way forward.

How did my passion for doing this work develop?
Having suffered a soul shifting personal loss at a young age, I was fortunate enough to come into contact with a wonderful therapist (High Five, Scott!) who really listened and ultimately inspired me to see that I shared the same desire to help in this unique capacity. Thanks to that experience I forged my path ahead as a counselor. Since that time I've endured (like all of you), more trials, tribulations, losses and traumas. I believe that we were never meant to walk this bumpy path alone and I feel that being a therapist is something I was put on this earth to do - to hold space for you as you begin doing the hard work of self-exploration and change. When we collaborate (because this is a team effort with you in the drivers seat) you will find a space where you are invited to be fully you - I want to hear your story and to remind you that you're capable of thriving!

-
Sprinkle in a fascination with holistic healing and wellness = Institute for Integrative Nutrition (Certified Holistic Health Coach)

Some of my Background Experience:
-
I spent quite a bit of time over the last 20 years working in the field of Addiction Recovery, in an outpatient setting, college counseling center and in my private practice - this is the reason why I know change is possible.
-
I have worked in end of life care via nursing homes and Hospice and am very comfortable sitting with grief and loss. It's the most painful part of being a human and even though there isn't anything that anyone can do to ease that pain of loss, support can still be a tremendous balm during the hardest times.
-
I have been in private practice for 13 years and have worked extensively with individuals and couples facing many of the issues I talk about on this page.
-
Teaching is also a big part of my past - I love sharing my passion for psychology & counseling and have taught at the college level. I've also taught children in Poland and South Korea!

Random bits about me that might help you decide if we would be a good fit to work together:

-
I'm working on becoming a Reiki Master!
-
I've been practicing yoga for 25 years and used to teach classes for many years - yoga has saved me many times over!
-
I'm a homeschooling Mom and believe Connection is the greatest parenting tool we have
-
I absolutely love dogs (and animals in general) - I will want to see photos of your pets! I have two rescue dogs of my own (Dan and Tammy).
-
I am a huge fantasy nerd - Disney, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings - I've been known to use references to these in session. My apologies in advance.
-
Baking is my side passion! I especially love to bake Halloween themed desserts and cakes!
-
I love anything related to the paranormal - you might find me hanging out in a Cemetery or staring into my Grandpa's crystal ball.
-
I love to travel but I have a phobia of flying (but I still do it! Go me!)
-
I've been a therapy patient myself and go as often as I need it. I believe in the power of having an unbiased professional to talk to and to hold me accountable to the change I want to see in my own life!
